Swans. There are 2 pair that I know of now, at the Forest preserve. I got several pictures, but some are better than others. It's hard to catch them through the trees sometimes and my camera has a semi-nasty delay on it. They had their wings all puffed out like this - before the territory fight. I wish I'd gotten a shot of them flying out. I had no idea they were that LONG!

It's the Berries!
I have no idea what they are - but the Forest Preserve was loaded with them. And some red ones on some bright yellow-green leaves. (that pic didn't come out!)
I like the contrast here - as it was approaching dusk, the background took on this purple cast, with the purpley-red veining of the leaves and the fading greens. It's just fun color.

Turtle Lake
This is a shot of Turtle Lake. It's in the Will County Forest Preserve system and backs the Lake Renwick project - where there is an awesome blue heron rookery. If you look really close there's a pair of swans a little right of dead center of the photo. I found 2 pair of white swans yesterday (among the millions of Canadian geese).
You can see how the drought has really affected the water lines here. The lakes are very low.
The county turned this land into a Forest Preserve after it was dug out. It used to be a quarry.
