I just needed some sunshine today

I don't think I've posted this one before, and if I have, I apologize. But that's my 14yo, the husband and the 19 yo (not sure where 17 was at that moment!). Riding on the beach is something I'd never done before. I cannot wait to do it again. It was wonderful.

It's a perfectly dreary, gray day here in Illinois. I just needed some sun.

ever left the cat IN the bag? ;-)

Here's Abby, in her 'oven'. The heating duct ran under the floor there and the sun was shining on top of the bag - hence, a Kitty Oven. This is so out of character for her, I had to snap this one.

Snowy shadows

The pattern the lacy tree left on the ground in shadow was just beautiful to me.

Sometimes the snow is just pretty!

We got a nasty storm last night, almost white outs at one point. The first layer was ice, and then this fluffly flakey snow came down and froze on top of it. This morning, it was just gorgeous. I love hoarfrost to begin with so when snow does that effect too, I'm a happy camper. Yup, snow can make me happy. LOL

Not one of my best

But it's still pretty. The palmetto belongs to a neighbor of my parents. He had it decorated really bright and pretty for the holidays. I took this shot out a car window - at night, with a fairly unsteady hand. But the colors are still pretty. Oh hell, I just like it.

Ferns

I found this tree in Savannah. The ferns grow on the tree just like it shows here. It was kinda cool.

Not "Where's Waldo"

But instead, where the HELL is Boris?! I took this 24" tall nutcracker to my parents for Christmas. It was a gift for their home. Hubby took one look at him and said "NOT another one!" (I have over 18 now). Then he said "Whatever you do - I don't want that THING looking at me the whole trip." It did. Bwahahahahaha.

So he started hiding it on my mom, and she would retaliate and hide it in places for him to discover. I really do think the things give him the creeps a bit. But it was hilarious - where the hell is Boris today? Packed away for next year I think!

Oh and yes, he 'smokes'. lol

Velvet Elvis

Wouldn't you just like to 'know'??

We didn't go in and I'm regretting that one. However, I am planning on a "girl's weekend" in Savannah complete with a stay in a B&B...

Hey Chicken Woman? You game for that? And that Birdy person?

Carolina Blue

There is nothing like a Carolina blue sky. The wind was pretty high, which is why the sand looks like it's snow whipping across the beach. But I was on the BEACH in December, so I could have cared less!

Savannah

I got this shot through the side of our trolley tour of Savannah. I couldn't resist it - I think it's a bar. Wait til you see the Velvet Elvis Lounge...

For Chicken Woman!

This is a "OMG! That water MOVES!" moment. That's Sam, and EmmaDog on the beach for the first time.

I figured since you're having crappy NW weather, I'd show you some purdy SE weather from last week. ;-)
